THE FOLKS 2000
For the very first time, Vicenza and its province is the host a real Festival
of peoples misic, traditions and sounds identifying and representing different
cultures. Popular, ethnic or worl music, as it is currently called, is a dictionary
of sounds from which famous artists constantly draw inspirtation. We are often
surprised to find particular compositions in internationally famous songs, but
we do not take into consideration the fact that, nowadays, more than ever, their
origin is closely connected with the traditional music.
ON THE FOLKS is the development of the music festival that has been taking place
in Vò di Brendola for some years. It aims at offering several concerts
of different cultures, compositions, interpretations and performances, the quality
of which is assured not only by the presence of virtuoso and creative musicians,
but also by settings representing the groups' culture of origin. The schedule
includes 11 concerts that will take place in Vicenza, Arzignano, Brendola and
Montecchio Maggiore.
It is an "itinerant festival" a fascinating journey of sounds, lights,
costumes, unusul instruments and free songs.

The Cultural Association Folk Studio A is dedicated to promoting traditional music, and in particular, the music of Irish and Scottish origin and inspiration.
